About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Moxclav 1gm Tablet is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic containing amoxycillin 875mg and clavulanic acid 125mg. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including community-acquired pneumonia, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections. Amoxycillin, a penicillin-class antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, prevents the inactivation of amoxycillin by beta-lactamases, thereby enhancing its antibacterial activity. The combination demonstrates broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Moxclav 1gm Tablet is suitable for patients with mild to moderate infections, and its once-daily dosing regimen simplifies patient compliance. It is available in tablet form, with a recommended dosage of one tablet every 12 hours. As with all antibiotics, Moxclav 1gm Tablet should be used with caution in patients with a history of allergic reactions or those who are taking other medications that may interact with its constituents.
