Motivyst Tablet is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise. Each tablet contains 300mg of canagliflozin, a selective inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2). Canagliflozin works by blocking the reabsorption of glucose in the proximal renal tubules, increasing urinary glucose excretion and thereby reducing hyperglycemia. In patients with type 2 diabetes, Motivyst Tablet has been shown to improve glycemic control by reducing HbA1c levels, while also reducing the risk of cardiovascular events and renal complications. Additionally, Motivyst Tablet has been associated with weight loss and blood pressure reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital yeast infections, and increased risk of bone fractures. Contraindications include severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or patients with a history of pituitary adrenal cortisol insufficiency. Patients with a history of bladder cancer or those taking strong diuretics should also be monitored closely. As with all medications, patients should be closely monitored for any signs of adverse reactions and adjust dosing as necessary.
