About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Moncef S 500mg/500mg Injection is a parenteral antibacterial agent, a fixed-dose combination of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam, indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Cefoperazone, a broad-spectrum cephalosporin, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, binds to and inactivates beta-lactamases, thereby preventing bacterial resistance to Cefoperazone. This combination effectively treats a wide range of infections, including pneumonia, intra-abdominal infections, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus. Moncef S 500mg/500mg Injection is administered intravenously every 8 to 12 hours, with a duration of treatment dependent on the underlying infection and patient response. Dosing should be adjusted according to patient age, weight, and renal function, and concomitant therapy should be used with caution.

About Cefoperazone

Cefoperazone is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory and urinary tract infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Cefoperazone is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In summary, it is a critical antibiotic for managing infections.

How It Works

Cefoperazone binds to penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis and leading to cell death.
