About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Mikacin Injection is a sterile, lyophilized powder intended for intramuscular or intravenous administration. Each vial contains 1000mg of amikacin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic, for use in the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Proteus species. Mikacin Injection is also indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. The product is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amikacin or other aminoglycosides, and in patients with renal impairment, as the risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity may be increased. Mikacin Injection should be administered under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional and in accordance with the product's prescribing information and the patient's individual needs.
