About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Meticet-M Tablet contains Levocetirizine 5mg and Montelukast 10mg, combining an antihistamine with a leukotriene receptor antagonist to provide effective relief from allergic conditions. Levocetirizine, a third-generation non-sedating antihistamine, selectively inhibits peripheral H1 receptors, thereby reducing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, and itching associated with allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. Montelukast acts by blocking leukotriene D4 receptors in the lungs and bronchial tubes, preventing bronchoconstriction and inflammation, making it beneficial in managing asthma and allergic rhinitis. The synergistic action of these agents offers comprehensive control of allergic symptoms and improves respiratory function. Meticet-M is indicated for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and as an adjunct therapy in asthma management. It is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects may include headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and it should be used under medical supervision. The recommended dosage is one tablet once daily, preferably in the evening. Meticet-M provides a convenient and effective therapeutic option for patients requiring combined antihistaminic and leukotriene receptor antagonist therapy.
