Mega-CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. Mega-CV 625 is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. The combination is particularly useful in infections where beta-lactamase-producing bacteria are suspected or confirmed. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity and type of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
