About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Mahawin CV Tablet contains a combination of Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, formulated to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents the enzymatic degradation of Cefuroxime by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby enhancing its efficacy against resistant strains. Mahawin CV is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. The combination is particularly effective against beta-lactamase-producing pathogens such as Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and certain Enterobacteriaceae. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or beta-lactamase inhibitors. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Mahawin CV Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of antibiotic resistance.
