Lyfur-CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby effectively targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by preventing the enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thus extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Lyfur-CV 625 is indicated for respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sinusitis. It is administered orally and is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.
