About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Lovax 150 Tablet contains Oxcarbazepine 150 mg, an anticonvulsant medication primarily indicated for the treatment of epilepsy. Oxcarbazepine acts by stabilizing hyperexcited neuronal membranes, inhibiting repetitive neuronal firing, and reducing synaptic impulse propagation, thereby controlling partial seizures with or without secondary generalization. Lovax 150 is prescribed as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy in adults and pediatric patients aged six years and older. The drug is well-absorbed orally, metabolized extensively in the liver to its active metabolite, and excreted mainly via the kidneys. Common adverse effects may include dizziness, somnolence, headache, nausea, and hyponatremia; therefore, regular monitoring of serum sodium levels is recommended during therapy. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to carbamazepine or related compounds, as cross-reactivity may occur. Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal impairment. Lovax 150 should be administered under medical supervision with gradual dose titration to minimize side effects. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Oxcarbazepine or any excipients in the formulation. Patients should be advised to avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent seizure exacerbation. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
