Liralin Tablet contains Linagliptin 5 mg, a potent and selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Linagliptin enhances the incretin system by preventing the degradation of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), thereby increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. This mechanism contributes to improved glycemic control without causing significant hypoglycemia or weight gain. Liralin is recommended as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. The tablet is administered orally once daily, with or without food.
