About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Linid Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive bacterial infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia, and other serious infections caused by susceptible strains. Linezolid exerts its bacteriostatic action by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the initiation complex. Linid Tablet is administered orally, with a recommended dosage of 600 mg every 12 hours, typically for 10 to 14 days, depending on the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, as prolonged use may result in hematological adverse effects such as thrombocytopenia, anemia, or leukopenia. It is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors or serotonergic agents due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Regular monitoring of blood counts and clinical response is recommended during therapy. Linid Tablet should be used under strict medical supervision to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes and minimize potential adverse effects.
