About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Linaxa 5mg Tablet contains Linagliptin 5mg, a potent dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Linagliptin enhances the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control. Linaxa is prescribed as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control. The medication is administered orally once daily, with or without food. Linagliptin exhibits a favorable safety profile, with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy or in combination with agents not associated with hypoglycemia. It is primarily eliminated via the enterohepatic system, making dose adjustment unnecessary in patients with renal impairment. Common adverse effects include nasopharyngitis, headache, and upper respiratory tract infections. Linaxa should be used cautiously in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and HbA1c levels is recommended to assess therapeutic efficacy and adjust treatment accordingly.

About Linagliptin
Linagliptin is an oral medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of DPP-4 inhibitors, which work by increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon levels in response to meals. This helps lower blood glucose levels effectively. Linagliptin is often prescribed alongside diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. Side effects may include upper respiratory infections and headache. In summary, Linagliptin is a valuable option for managing type 2 diabetes.
How It Works
Linagliptin inhibits the enzyme DPP-4, leading to increased levels of incretin hormones, which promote insulin secretion and inhibit glucagon release, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
