Leezad-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation oral cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing the enzymatic degradation of cefpodoxime by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby enhancing its efficacy against resistant strains. This synergistic combination is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, making it suitable for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. Leezad-CV is indicated in cases where beta-lactamase-producing organisms are suspected or confirmed. The tablet should be administered orally as prescribed by a healthcare professional, with dosage adjustments based on the severity of infection and patient-specific factors such as renal function.
