LC-Clav 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects Amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. This synergistic combination is effective against infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. LC-Clav 625 is indicated for use in adults and pediatric patients where the causative organisms are resistant to Amoxycillin alone. The tablet should be administered orally with or without food, preferably at evenly spaced intervals to maintain effective plasma concentrations. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or beta-lactamase inhibitors. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Use of LC-Clav 625 should be guided by susceptibility testing and clinical judgment to minimize the development of antibiotic resistance.
