This mechanism helps reduce the frequency and severity of seizures. Lacotide is typically prescribed as adjunctive therapy for adults and pediatric patients aged four years and older who have refractory partial-onset seizures. The recommended initial dose is 50 mg twice daily, with gradual titration based on clinical response and tolerability, up to a maximum dose of 400 mg per day. Lacotide is well absorbed orally, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 1 to 4 hours and a half-life of approximately 13 hours, allowing for twice-daily dosing.
