About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Kozibact 2% Cream contains Mupirocin 2% w/w, a topical antibiotic indicated for the treatment of superficial skin infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Mupirocin exerts its antibacterial effect by reversibly inhibiting bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and bacterial growth. Kozibact 2% Cream is primarily used for impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, and other minor skin infections, as well as for the eradication of nasal carriage of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The cream should be applied in a thin layer to the affected area two to three times daily, typically for a duration of 5 to 10 days, or as directed by a healthcare professional. It is important to avoid contact with the eyes, and treatment should be discontinued if irritation or hypersensitivity reactions occur. Kozibact 2% Cream is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any of the cream’s excipients. Due to minimal systemic absorption, systemic side effects are rare. However, prolonged use may lead to the development of resistant bacterial strains. Proper hygiene and adherence to prescribed treatment duration are essential to ensure efficacy and reduce the risk of resistance.
