Kainobact Ointment contains Mupirocin 2% w/w, a topical antibiotic effective against a variety of gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of superficial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, and infected wounds or abrasions. Mupirocin acts by inhibiting bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby preventing protein synthesis and bacterial replication. The ointment is applied topically to the affected area, typically three times daily, and treatment duration generally ranges from 5 to 10 days depending on the severity of the infection. Kainobact Ointment is well-tolerated, with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of systemic side effects. Common adverse reactions may include local irritation, itching, or erythema at the application site. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any of the ointment’s excipients. Caution is advised when used on large areas or broken skin to avoid systemic exposure. Kainobact Ointment should be used under medical supervision, and patients are advised to complete the full course of treatment to prevent the development of bacterial resistance. It is not recommended for use in viral or fungal skin infections.
