About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Kenadion 1mg Tablet contains Phytomenadione, a synthetic form of vitamin K1, essential for the synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X in the liver. It is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB) in neonates, as well as for the management of hypoprothrombinemia caused by vitamin K deficiency in adults and children. Kenadion is also used to counteract the anticoagulant effects of vitamin K antagonists such as warfarin in cases of overdose or excessive anticoagulation. The tablet formulation allows for convenient oral administration, with rapid absorption and onset of action. Phytomenadione promotes hepatic carboxylation of glutamic acid residues on clotting factors, restoring normal coagulation function. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vitamin K or its components. Caution is advised in individuals with liver disease or those receiving concurrent anticoagulant therapy. Adverse effects are generally rare but may include hypersensitivity reactions, flushing, or injection site reactions when administered parenterally. Kenadion 1mg Tablet should be used under medical supervision, with dosing tailored to the patient’s clinical condition and coagulation status, ensuring effective management of vitamin K deficiency and related coagulopathies.
