About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Karrox CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Karrox CV is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. It is also effective in managing dental infections and certain gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is generally well-tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Karrox CV should be used with caution in patients with a history of allergy to beta-lactams and in those with hepatic impairment. Dosage and duration of therapy should be guided by the severity of infection and clinical response, under medical supervision to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes and minimize resistance development.
