Kamox 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that degrade amoxycillin, rendering it ineffective. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. Kamox 625 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is effective against beta-lactamase-producing strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, and Escherichia coli, among others. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, renal function, and patient response. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.
