About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Jusdap L 5 Tablet contains a combination of Dapagliflozin 10 mg and Linagliptin 5 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption, promoting glucosuria and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that enhances incretin hormone activity, increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. This dual mechanism provides complementary glycemic control by targeting both renal glucose excretion and pancreatic hormone regulation. Jusdap L 5 is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults inadequately controlled on monotherapy or combination therapy. The fixed-dose combination improves patient compliance by reducing pill burden. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and nasopharyngitis. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity, volume depletion, or risk of hypoglycemia when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy with Jusdap L 5 Tablet.

About Linagliptin

Linagliptin is an oral medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the class of DPP-4 inhibitors, which work by increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon levels in response to meals. This helps lower blood glucose levels effectively. Linagliptin is often prescribed alongside diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. Side effects may include upper respiratory infections and headache. In summary, Linagliptin is a valuable option for managing type 2 diabetes.

How It Works

Linagliptin inhibits the enzyme DPP-4, leading to increased levels of incretin hormones, which promote insulin secretion and inhibit glucagon release, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
