About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Ivasafe 5 Tablet contains Ivabradine 5mg, a selective inhibitor of the If current in the sinoatrial node, used primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure. By reducing the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction, Ivabradine helps to decrease myocardial oxygen demand, thereby alleviating angina symptoms and improving exercise tolerance. It is indicated in patients with stable angina who are intolerant to or inadequately controlled by beta-blockers, as well as in patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate above 70 beats per minute despite optimal standard therapy. The recommended dosage is typically 5 mg twice daily, which may be adjusted based on heart rate response and tolerability. Ivabradine should be used cautiously in patients with bradycardia, hypotension, or conduction abnormalities and is contraindicated in those with acute decompensated heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, or severe hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects include bradycardia, luminous phenomena (phosphenes), and headache. Regular monitoring of heart rate and clinical status is advised during therapy to ensure efficacy and safety.
