Ivabradine is a selective inhibitor of the If ("funny") current in the sinoatrial node, which plays a crucial role in regulating heart rate. By specifically reducing the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction, Ivamac OD helps to decrease myocardial oxygen demand and improve exercise tolerance in patients with angina. It is particularly beneficial for patients who are intolerant to beta-blockers or in whom beta-blockers are contraindicated. In chronic heart failure, Ivabradine is used to reduce hospitalization rates by lowering heart rate in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF ≤35%) who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate ≥70 bpm despite optimal standard therapy.
