About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Insugen-N 40IU/ml Injection contains Insulin Isophane (40IU), a long-acting human insulin used for the management of diabetes mellitus. This intermediate-acting insulin formulation is designed to provide sustained glycemic control by mimicking the basal insulin secretion of the pancreas. Insulin Isophane acts by facilitating cellular glucose uptake, particularly in muscle and adipose tissues, and inhibiting hepatic glucose production, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Insugen-N is primarily indicated for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus who require exogenous insulin replacement and for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who are inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, and oral hypoglycemic agents. The onset of action typically occurs within 1 to 2 hours after subcutaneous administration, with a peak effect between 4 to 12 hours and a duration of action up to 24 hours, allowing for once or twice daily dosing. Dosage must be individualized based on patient’s metabolic needs, blood glucose monitoring, and glycemic control goals. Insugen-N should be administered subcutaneously and is not intended for intravenous use. Patients must be educated on proper injection techniques, storage conditions, and recognition of hypoglycemia symptoms. Caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, and concomitant medications may affect insulin requirements.
