About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Igrose Star Cream is a topical formulation combining Ciprofloxacin (1% w/w), Metronidazole (1% w/w), Terbinafine (1% w/w), and Clobetasol (0.05% w/w), designed for the management of mixed bacterial, protozoal, fungal infections, and inflammatory dermatoses. Ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic, targets susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication. Metronidazole exhibits potent antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity against anaerobic organisms by disrupting DNA synthesis. Terbinafine, an allylamine antifungal agent, inhibits squalene epoxidase, leading to ergosterol depletion and fungal cell membrane disruption, effective against dermatophytes and other fungi. Clobetasol propionate, a super potent corticosteroid, provides anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antipruritic effects, reducing erythema, edema, and itching associated with inflammatory skin conditions. The synergistic combination in Igrose Star Cream is indicated for complicated cutaneous infections with mixed microbial etiology accompanied by significant inflammation, such as infected eczema, dermatitis, and fungal-bacterial co-infections. Application should follow medical advice, typically applied twice daily to affected areas, avoiding prolonged use due to potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects. Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, and use on extensive areas or occluded skin should be monitored to prevent systemic absorption.

About Ciprofloxacin
Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, preventing DNA replication and cell division. Ciprofloxacin is effective in managing respiratory, urinary, and skin infections. In summary, Ciprofloxacin is crucial for treating bacterial infections.
How It Works
Ciprofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, disrupting bacterial DNA replication and leading to cell death.
All Active Ingredients
Terbinafine
Terbinafine inhibits squalene epoxidase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes.
Metronidazole
Metronidazole disrupts DNA synthesis in anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, leading to their death.
Clobetasol
Clobetasol binds to glucocorticoid receptors, inhibiting the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes and reducing inflammation.
