Hyoxim-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby disrupting cell integrity and leading to cell death. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and transcription, resulting in the inhibition of bacterial growth. The synergistic action of these two antibiotics provides enhanced efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to monotherapy. Hyoxim-O is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is important to use this medication under medical supervision to ensure appropriate dosing and duration, minimizing the risk of resistance development. Patients should be advised to complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve. Caution is warranted in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or fluoroquinolones, and renal or hepatic impairment.
