Hepawell Tablet contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid 300 mg, a hydrophilic bile acid used primarily in the management of various hepatobiliary disorders. It is indicated for the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in patients with a functioning gallbladder and for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a chronic autoimmune liver disease characterized by progressive destruction of intrahepatic bile ducts. Ursodeoxycholic Acid works by reducing the cholesterol content of bile, thereby decreasing cholesterol saturation and promoting the gradual dissolution of cholesterol-rich gallstones. Additionally, it exerts cytoprotective effects on hepatocytes by stabilizing cell membranes, reducing bile acid-induced apoptosis, and improving bile flow. Hepawell Tablet is administered orally and is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects may include mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal discomfort. It is contraindicated in patients with complete biliary obstruction, acute cholecystitis, or hypersensitivity to Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
