About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Hefcard 50 Tablet contains a combination of Sacubitril (24 mg) and Valsartan (26 mg), formulated for the management of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Sacubitril is a neprilysin inhibitor that enhances the levels of natriuretic peptides, promoting vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis, thereby reducing cardiac workload and improving cardiac function. Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), inhibits the effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced blood pressure. The synergistic action of these components helps to decrease the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in patients with chronic heart failure. Hefcard 50 is indicated for adult patients with symptomatic HFrEF to improve survival and quality of life. It should be administered under medical supervision with careful monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium levels to minimize adverse effects such as hypotension, hyperkalemia, and renal impairment. Contraindications include a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor or ARB therapy, pregnancy, and severe hepatic impairment. Dose adjustments may be required based on patient response and tolerability.
