Halmox CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. Halmox CV 625 is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly useful in infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains resistant to Amoxycillin alone. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in penicillin-sensitive individuals. Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
