Glypten-M Tablet SR is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Metformin 500 mg and Teneligliptin 20 mg, formulated to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and improving peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Teneligliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, increases endogenous incretin levels, which in turn stimulate insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby reducing postprandial and fasting blood glucose levels. The sustained-release (SR) formulation of Glypten-M ensures a gradual release of Metformin, improving gastrointestinal tolerability and enhancing patient compliance. This combination therapy is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on Metformin monotherapy or those requiring dual therapy to achieve target glycemic levels.
