About This Medicine

Product description & overview

Glyfloz 10 Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 10 mg, an oral antihyperglycemic agent belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. Dapagliflozin acts by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. This mechanism is independent of insulin secretion or action, making it effective across various stages of type 2 diabetes. Glyfloz 10 may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional benefits on blood pressure reduction. The most common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and increased urination. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, volume depletion, or risk of ketoacidosis. Regular monitoring of renal function and hydration status is recommended during therapy. Glyfloz 10 should be prescribed and used under medical supervision to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize potential risks.
