Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to better glucose uptake and utilization. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, mitigating postprandial hyperglycemia.
