Gliz-M Tablet is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent containing Gliclazide 80 mg and Metformin 500 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea class drug, acts by stimulating pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby improving glycemic control. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to improved glucose uptake and utilization. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective glycemic regulation in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone or by monotherapy. Gliz-M Tablet is recommended as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan including diet, exercise, and regular blood glucose monitoring. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and conditions predisposing to hypoxia.
