Gliclaz M 80 mg/500 mg Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Gliclazide 80 mg and Metformin 500 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea class agent, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion, thereby improving glycemic control. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by reducing hepatic glucose production and increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, contributing to improved insulin sensitivity. The synergistic action of these two agents helps achieve better blood glucose regulation in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. This combination is particularly beneficial for patients with insulin resistance and impaired beta-cell function.
