About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Gibtulio 25mg Tablet contains Empagliflozin, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, Empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. This mechanism contributes to improved glycemic control when used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Gibtulio 25mg is particularly beneficial for patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional cardiovascular and renal benefits observed in patients with established cardiovascular disease or chronic kidney disease. Common adverse effects include genital mycotic infections, urinary tract infections, and increased urination. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to Empagliflozin. Caution is advised in patients at risk of volume depletion or hypotension. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy. Gibtulio 25mg Tablet should be administered once daily, with or without food, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
