Genomox-CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing the enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Genomox-CV 625 is indicated for the management of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. The combination is particularly useful in treating infections where beta-lactamase-producing bacteria are suspected or confirmed. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins.
