Esium IT Capsule is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Esomeprazole 40 mg and Itopride 150 mg, designed for the effective management of gastrointestinal disorders characterized by acid-related symptoms and impaired motility. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, acts by selectively inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion and providing symptomatic relief in conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and erosive esophagitis. Itopride, a prokinetic agent, enhances gastrointestinal motility by antagonizing dopamine D2 receptors and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity, which facilitates gastric emptying and alleviates symptoms of functional dyspepsia, including bloating, nausea, and early satiety.
