This action helps to reduce the spread of seizure activity in the brain. Epsolin 300 is indicated for the control of generalized tonic-clonic seizures, complex partial seizures, and prevention of seizures following neurosurgery or head trauma. The dosage should be individualized based on clinical response and serum phenytoin levels, with careful monitoring to avoid toxicity. Common adverse effects include dizziness, ataxia, nystagmus, and gum hypertrophy, while serious reactions may involve hypersensitivity, blood dyscrasias, or severe dermatological reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, cardiac conditions, or hypersensitivity to phenytoin. Epsolin 300 should not be abruptly discontinued to prevent seizure exacerbation. Concomitant use with other CNS depressants may potentiate sedative effects.
