About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Enzomac Ointment contains Mupirocin 2% w/w, a topical antibiotic indicated for the treatment of superficial skin infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including impetigo, folliculitis, and infected wounds. Mupirocin acts by inhibiting bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby preventing protein synthesis and effectively eradicating gram-positive organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Enzomac Ointment is applied directly to the affected area two to three times daily, typically for a duration of 5 to 10 days, depending on clinical response. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any of the ointment’s components. Adverse reactions are generally mild and may include local irritation, burning sensation, or pruritus at the application site. Caution is advised when using Enzomac Ointment on large areas or under occlusive dressings to minimize systemic absorption. The ointment should not be used for viral or fungal infections unless secondary bacterial infection is present. Enzomac Ointment is intended for topical use only and should be kept out of reach of children. Patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent the development of resistant bacterial strains and ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
