About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Entarica 1 Tablet contains Entecavir 1 mg, a potent antiviral agent primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in adults with evidence of active viral replication and either persistent elevations in serum aminotransferases or histologically active disease. Entecavir is a nucleoside analogue that selectively inhibits HBV polymerase, thereby interfering with viral DNA replication and transcription. This mechanism effectively reduces viral load, improves liver function, and decreases the risk of progression to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. Entarica is administered orally, with dosing tailored according to the patient’s renal function and clinical status. It is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including headache, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea. Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing renal impairment, and periodic monitoring of liver function tests and HBV DNA levels is recommended to assess therapeutic response and detect potential resistance. Entecavir should be used under medical supervision, especially in patients with decompensated liver disease or co-infection with HIV, where concomitant antiretroviral therapy may be necessary. Discontinuation should be carefully managed to avoid viral rebound and hepatic flare. Entarica 1 Tablet offers a reliable option for long-term management of chronic hepatitis B infection.
