Zyloric Tablet contains Allopurinol 100mg, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor primarily indicated for the management of hyperuricemia and gout. By inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, Allopurinol reduces the production of uric acid, thereby preventing the formation of urate crystals in joints and tissues. This medication is used to prevent acute gout attacks, reduce serum uric acid levels in patients with chronic gout, and manage hyperuricemia associated with malignancies or chemotherapy. Zyloric is also beneficial in the treatment of kidney stones caused by elevated uric acid levels. It is typically administered orally once daily, with dosage adjustments based on renal function and serum uric acid levels. Patients should be advised to maintain adequate hydration to minimize the risk of renal complications. Common adverse effects include rash, gastrointestinal disturbances, and hypersensitivity reactions; severe hypersensitivity syndrome, although rare, requires immediate discontinuation of the drug. Regular monitoring of renal and liver function, as well as complete blood counts, is recommended during therapy.
