Zydol-P Syrup is a combination analgesic and antipyretic formulation containing Mefenamic Acid (50mg/5ml) and Paracetamol (125mg/5ml). It is indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain and fever associated with conditions such as headache, dental pain, musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhea, and febrile episodes. Mefenamic Acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its effect by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain. Paracetamol provides analgesic and antipyretic effects through central inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, complementing the peripheral action of Mefenamic Acid. The syrup formulation allows for easy administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations or patients with swallowing difficulties. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s age, weight, and severity of symptoms, with careful adherence to recommended limits to avoid adverse effects.
