Etoricoxib exerts its therapeutic effect by selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain, while sparing COX-1, which helps maintain gastrointestinal mucosal integrity. This selective action results in effective analgesia with a potentially lower risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects compared to non-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Zubcoxia is indicated for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis.
