About This Medicine
Product description & overview
Zosert 50 Tablet contains Sertraline 50mg, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Sertraline functions by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, thereby helping to restore the balance of neurotransmitters that influence mood and behavior. Zosert 50 is typically administered once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments should be individualized based on therapeutic response and tolerability. Common adverse effects may include nausea, insomnia, dry mouth, dizziness, and sexual dysfunction, though these often diminish with continued use. It is essential to monitor patients for signs of worsening depression, suicidal ideation, or unusual changes in behavior, especially during the initial treatment period or dosage changes. Caution is advised when co-administering with other serotonergic agents to avoid serotonin syndrome. Zosert 50 should not be used concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or within 14 days of discontinuing such therapy. Patients with a history of bipolar disorder, seizures, or hepatic impairment should use this medication under close medical supervision. As with all antidepressants, abrupt discontinuation is discouraged to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
