Zitalex-DM Tablet ER is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Dapagliflozin 10 mg, Metformin 500 mg, and Sitagliptin 100 mg, formulated for extended-release administration. This combination is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient. Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, promotes renal glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, increases incretin hormone levels, which augment insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The extended-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing, improving patient adherence. Zitalex-DM should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or a history of lactic acidosis.
