XR Beta-TM Tablet SR is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 50 mg, formulated for sustained release to provide prolonged therapeutic effects. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to decreased blood pressure. Metoprolol Succinate, a beta-1 selective adrenergic blocker, reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, contributing to blood pressure reduction and improved cardiac function. The extended-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing, enhancing patient compliance and maintaining stable plasma concentrations. XR Beta-TM Tablet SR is indicated for the management of hypertension, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents, particularly in patients who require dual blockade of the renin-angiotensin system and beta-adrenergic receptors.
