XR Beta 100 Tablet contains Metoprolol Tartrate 100mg, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker used primarily in the management of cardiovascular conditions. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and heart failure, as well as for the prevention of myocardial infarction and reduction of cardiovascular mortality in patients with a history of heart attack. Metoprolol Tartrate works by competitively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, leading to a decrease in heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby reducing oxygen demand and workload on the heart.
