Ximispas-MF Tablet is a combination medication containing Dicyclomine 10 mg and Mefenamic Acid 250 mg, primarily indicated for the relief of pain associated with gastrointestinal spasms and dysmenorrhea. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic agent that acts by inhibiting the muscarinic receptors in the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing muscle spasms and cramping. Mefenamic Acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that exerts analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes, leading to decreased prostaglandin synthesis. The synergistic action of these two components provides effective relief from abdominal pain, cramping, and inflammation. Ximispas-MF is commonly prescribed for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, colic, and menstrual pain. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to NSAIDs, gastrointestinal ulcers, or renal impairment. Common side effects may include dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, and gastrointestinal discomfort. It is contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, and in patients with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction.
