Xeronac-DV Tablet is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Drotaverine 80 mg and Aceclofenac 100 mg, designed for the management of pain associated with smooth muscle spasms and inflammatory conditions. Drotaverine, an antispasmodic agent, acts by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-IV, leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels and subsequent relaxation of smooth muscles, thereby alleviating spasmodic pain. Aceclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its therapeutic effect by selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), resulting in decreased synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever. The combination of these two agents provides synergistic relief in conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders, renal colic, biliary colic, and other painful spasmodic states accompanied by inflammation. Xeronac-DV is indicated for short-term use to manage moderate to severe pain where both antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory actions are required. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to NSAIDs, peptic ulcer disease, renal or hepatic impairment, and cardiovascular disorders.
