Xeplo-M Tablet is a combination pharmaceutical formulation containing Drotaverine 80 mg and Mefenamic Acid 250 mg, designed for the management of smooth muscle spasms accompanied by pain and inflammation. Drotaverine, a potent antispasmodic agent, acts by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-IV, leading to increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels and subsequent relaxation of smooth muscles, thereby alleviating spasmodic pain. Mefenamic Acid, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), resulting in decreased synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever.
